    The alarming decline of biodiversity

On the occasion of the Bee Days and of Biodiversity, next 20 and 22 May respectively, 3Bee, the leading Nature Tech company, is highlighting the urgent problem of declining biodiversity and for the occasion is organising Friday 19 May the first Biodiversity Summit, an annual summit that will serve as a forum for discussion with the main players in the national economy, already engaged in the protection and conservation of biodiversity, to identify the most effective strategies for safeguarding biodiversity to be implemented and disseminated with a view to a faster collective awareness. Research partners will include representatives from the Università Sant'Anna di Pisa - Institute of Management and Regenerative Society Foundation. The ISPRA notes an alarming decline, with 9% of bees and pollinators at risk of extinction, a situation exacerbated by global warming.

    The words of 3Bee's CEO

"Our tripartite approach - regeneration, technology and sensitisation - is validated by data and recognised by partner universities. The solutions that 3Bee proposes are concrete and testify to the daily commitment to the protection of biodiversity. - says Niccolò Calandri, CEO of 3Bee. The Biodiversity Summit therefore represents a real opportunity to share and promote these crucial strategies, sensitising companies, institutions and citizens to take part in a collective project in which we are all called upon to do our part for a better future. Indeed, the event will aim to determine the three cornerstones on which to focus the most urgent initiatives in terms of biodiversity protection" on the occasion of Bees Day.

    The 3Bee approach: Regeneration

Through a technological approach, 3Bee since 2017 has been continuously working with its partners to promote a positive change in biodiversity conservation, trying to reverse the negative trend especially in recent years also due to anthropisation and climate change. regeneration is the first and fundamental value of 3Bee's approach. Within a year, the Nature Tech company working with its biodiversity growers managed to plant and grow over 50,000 nectariferous trees - not seeds but real trees, in line with the target defined by the NRPR - in 18 Italian regions, creating over 200 Biodiversity Oases. These efforts, which place regeneration at the heart of 3Bee's work, benefit over 800 million pollinators.

The 3Bee approach: technology and monitoring

The second pillar of the 3Bee approach is the advanced use of technology for continuous monitoring and biodiversity protection. The 3Bee technologies are: Flora, the NDVI analysis system, based on the use of high-resolution satellite data - in collaboration with ESA - that allow for a precise and timely assessment of the floral diversity present in an area. Spectrum, the environmental sound analysis system through which it is possible to detect and classify the biodiversity present in an area. Hive-Tech, the system that allows the state of health and 'hunger' of bees to be analysed, as well as the presence of surrounding biodiversity. Polly X, on the other hand, the shelter for solitary bees that captures and monitors air quality, collecting essential data on the presence of heavy metals, pesticides and PM in the atmosphere. With these innovative systems, 3Bee serves as an authoritative scientific partner for a community of over 500 companies.

The 3Bee approach: education and awareness-raising

Last but not least, the promotion of education and awareness-raising of biodiversity-related topics represents the third fundamental pillar of the approach guiding 3Bee's entire activity. After the great success of the Sustainability Tour organised with CNC Media in fact, 3Bee launches the first Biodiversity Summit, an annual summit to discuss with the main actors of the national economy, already engaged in the protection and protection of biodiversity with the aim of identifying the most effective strategies for the protection of biodiversity to be implemented and disseminated with a view to a faster collective awareness. Not only research partners and organisations, but also a network of aware citizens who can actively contribute by taking part in the biggest study and research project dedicated to bees and biodiversity thanks to 3Bee and its many sustainable and digital initiatives at the click of a mouse perfect for Bees Day.

    Adopt a 3Bee Hive

With "adopt a 3Bee hive" anyone has the opportunity to adopt or donate a distance hive on Bees Day. Each adoption allows the bees of the chosen hive to be monitored 24/7 thanks to 3Bee technology. Each hive is monitored by sensors and microphones that collect data on the bees and their environment. Through the 3Bee app you can follow the growth of your hive, contributing directly to the 3Bee environmental research project. Furthermore, in respect of the bees, it is possible to select the type of flowering and thus receive a small portion of the honey produced. The initiative is also offline with the Box 3Bee, the gift boxes available at participating newsstands.

    Adopt a nectariferous tree

With the project "adopt a nectariferous tree", anyone can contribute to the care and growth of a nectar and pollen plant to enable the regeneration of pasture for bees in Italy, also on Bees Day. The plants are geolocated and it is possible to follow their growth via the dedicated app: 3Bee's biodiversity farmers will send photos and updates. Trees can produce oxygen and remove CO2 from the atmosphere, clean the air, increase biodiversity. We at 3Bee grow only melliferous and polliniferous trees in Italy and create nectariferous forests that provide nectar and food for pollinating insects.

    Adopt a Polly bee

The project "adopt a polly bee" by 3Bee - only available in spring - allows you to give or adopt a Polly House, the home for pollinators and wild bees (osmias). The osmias do not sting and enjoy pollinating gardens and flowers, helping to protect the environment. They can pollinate up to 40,000 flowers during their lifetime. The house to house the osmias can be placed in one's own garden or on a balcony. By adopting a Polly House, you can support the reproduction of these precious pollinators and help protect wild bees by supporting biodiversity.
