The importance of World Environment Days

International and National Environment Days are a crucial time to raise awareness and encourage action to protect the environment and regenerate biodiversity. These Days, most of which originated over the past fifty years, prompt governments, companies and individuals to reflect on the impact of their actions and to change behaviour for the good of the planet. World and National Environment Days are celebrated at different times of the year. Dedicated events, awareness-raising campaigns and initiatives to promote education and outreach on the topic are organised on these occasions.
