The 5 environment-themed events not to be missed in 2024

Considering a time order, the first major event in 2024 with an environmental theme is the World ESG Summit. The third edition will be held in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia, from 19 to 21 February 2024. For the occasion, leading industry professionals, investors and experts will gather to explore the most effective ways to integrate ESG principles into business practices. The focus will be on the implementation of ESG practices in the energy sector. Representatives from companies from a variety of sectors will be present, including energy, utilities, finance, manufacturing, public administration, construction, design, healthcare and technology. The World ESG Summit promotes the sharing of ideas and experiences, with the ambitious goal of achieving zero climate impact by 2050.

ChangeNOW 2024, the biggest event for the Planet, will take place in Paris from 25 to 27 March 2024. ChangeNOW is a three-day summit that aims to present the most innovative solutions to address the biggest challenges of our planet. The aim of the event is to network and create connections between entrepreneurs, business leaders and policymakers to accelerate change. This year, 3Bee will also be present at ChangeNOW 2024 to tell about its innovative technological approach to the protection of biodiversity and present its assessment, monitoring, regeneration and training solutions for biodiversity. Going overseas, let us mention the Climate Week NYC 2024, which will be held in New York starting on 22 September 2024. It is the biggest annual climate event of its kind, hosted by Climate Group, an international non-profit organisation that aims to promote climate action, fast. A week of events that will offer over 600 activities and opportunities, both physical in the various districts of the city, but also hybrid and online, to involve as many people as possible. Highlighting Climate Week NYC 2024 is The Hub Live: a series of meetings that will bring together over 1,000 leaders from business, government, climate decision makers and civil society representatives, to address the key issues of climate transition, accelerate progress and support the changes already underway.

During the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity (COP15), held in December 2022 in Montréal, the global biodiversity framework was agreed upon with the Global Biodiversity Framework. Among the main targets set is to conserve and effectively manage at least 30 per cent of the world's land, inland waters, coastal zones and oceans by 2030. In this sense, we can recognise some progress in the implementation of the agreement, which will be discussed during the COP16 on Biodiversity, to be held in Colombia from 21 October to 1 November 2024. During COP16, participating countries will present their achievements in implementing the agreement, but also the action plans and national strategies for biodiversity that they intend to implement in the near future.

The last, but by no means least, event not to be missed in 2024 is the COP29, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP29). COP29 will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 24 November 2024. It is this year's most important political event in the climate and environmental field: an important opportunity for Heads of State, academics, industry leaders, government officials and organisations to meet and negotiate. Following the COP28 held in 2023, discussions will continue on a number of issues related to environmental goals that, increasingly, need to be pursued with concrete actions.

These are just some of the main events themed on environment and sustainability for the 2024.
