8 March: a date to remember

Spring arrives in March, but first we celebrate an important date It is now March, and the first flowers begin to appear, heralding the arrival of spring. Among the plants heralding the beautiful season, the famous and showy mimosa stands out. With its yellow flowers and flamboyant foliage, it stands out against the grey, bare winter landscape. The blossoming of the mimosa does not only remind us, however, that spring is coming. Being a very famous symbol of an equally famous holiday, it cannot fail to remind us of Women's Day when we look at it. The mimosa is one of the most popular gifts for 8 March. Indeed, this date marks International Women's Day, improperly referred to as Women's Day. The importance of this event lies in drawing attention to the status of women, work and the constant inequalities that still characterise our society.

    Why Women's Day

Why was 8 March chosen as the date for this anniversary? Why this day was chosen is history. Although the most widespread version is linked to the burning of the Cotton factory in New York in 1908, this episode does not seem to have really happened. We must look for the roots of this anniversary elsewhere, more precisely in the Socialist Women's Conference, held in Copenhagen in 1910. On that occasion it was decided that a world day dedicated to the demand for women's rights should be established. 8 March 1917 was the day on which communist women in Moscow marched against the war. In 1921, the Second International Conference of Communist Women decreed that 8 March would be International Workers' Day. It was not until 1977 that the UN recognised this date as International Women's Day.

    A gift for Women's Day?

Let us take advantage of this anniversary for a useful and truly meaningful gift The Woman's Day is therefore not really a holiday. It is more an occasion to bring everyone's attention back to issues that are unfortunately still on the agenda. An occasion for a gesture of affection towards the women in our lives, whether they are companions, friends, mothers, grandmothers or sisters. The closer the fateful date approaches, the more not only flowers bloom, but also items and ideas reserved for Women's Day gifts. From cosmetics to technological products, from jewellery to flowers, there is certainly no risk of replicating a gift already given in previous years. What is the current challenge, however, is to combine the beauty of a gift with its utility. It may be a social or environmental utility, but surely this plus can make your gift truly unique, valuable, lasting and meaningful.

    Adopt a 3Bee hive

Donate a 3Bee hive and support the queens of biodiversity Most bees are female. So let's celebrate them too by giving a 3Bee hive to the most important women in our lives. Whether they are interested in environmental and sustainability issues or just passionate about honey, this is a very original gift. By gifting a 3Bee hive for Women's Day, you will also contribute to the support of bees, the queens of biodiversity, which in recent years are facing increasing threats to their survival. The recipient of your gift will be able to monitor the progress of the hive from her smartphone, tracking its development and health. Once ready, she will receive the honey produced directly to her home. It is therefore a gift that does not wither away in a few days: for a year she will be accompanied by her bees and her hive! Or support wild pollinators, give a Polly with
