Monitoring systems for beehives: scales and Hive-Tech 2.

The single scale consists of an anodised aluminium rail, capable of withstanding even the most adverse environmental conditions, and fitted with anti-slip slides to ensure maximum hive stability. Each scale is equipped with two load cells that weigh a total of up to 150kg, with a resolution of 50g. We have also provided for the load cells to be modified to weigh up to 300kg. The single scale records all weight variations of the hive and returns data on external environmental conditions. For more precise detection, with an improvement in detection accuracy of 10%, you can choose the 'dual scale' option, consisting of two rails connected together via a special cable. By offering a divisible product, we have taken care of the convenience of installation: to position the scales, you only have to lift one side of the hive, without any effort.

If, on the other hand, you are interested in having a 360° overview of the health of your bees and want to monitor not only weight, but also the temperature inside the nest, humidity levels and sounds, you can choose the Hive-Tech option. Hive-Tech consists of a double scale and a sensor to be installed inside the hive. Compared to the previous version, the new sensor is more robust, protected by a rigid case and a silicone layer to ensure data collection without compromising the sensors themselves. In this way, the device is protected from the natural tendency of bees to propolise. The sensor fits comfortably between the honeycombs of the nest: ideally, it should be positioned centrally, so that more accurate and timely data can be obtained. It is also equipped with a lanyard to prevent it from falling and a cable to connect to the scale's transmission module.

We have also paid a lot of attention to the redesign of the transmission module itself. In fact, the new devices have the antenna for data transmission completely incorporated, thus eliminating any external element that could create discomfort or inconvenience. All electronics are protected by an epoxy resin to make them completely waterproof, and the entire module is contained in a special protective case. All our monitoring systems are equipped with a built-in multi-operator SIM. This way, once you receive the device, all you have to do is place it in the apiary and start viewing the data. In addition, a completely free transmission subscription is included. In this way, the device will collect data every two hours and transmit it to the cloud twice a day. If, on the other hand, you need more data, even if only for short periods of the year, we have provided a Premium plan for only EUR 5 per month.

Our new systems also boast completely revamped software. We have worked to optimise the entire data collection process, to ensure even more precise and timely measurements. Finally, we also worked on the data collection and visualisation platform. We decided to radically change its graphic layout to make the dashboard as user-friendly as possible. We changed the graphs and the way of displaying data, also giving you the possibility to conveniently download histories by clicking one button. We have tried to make consultation as simple and immediate as possible by displaying summary parameters and you can also enter notes to keep track of your observations. All these improvements were suggested by the beekeepers themselves who used our devices. Their input and feedback has been invaluable.
