Flower Power: Angie the Bee in Search of her Flowers

Put some flowers in your cannons: I love these vintage songs! They are always sung by Sofia, a pacifist worker bee, active in the pensioners' union, who even went to the Woodstock concert when she was young and saw it all.

    Let's start

She is one tough bee, committed to the trendiest causes of the moment. Now, for example, she is collecting signatures against the spread of a plant that is on the flora black list, the list of all invasive neophytes that cause damage to biological diversity. Want to laugh? This plant is called bastard indigo! OK, the Latin name would actually be amorpha fruticosa, but bastard indigo kicks ass as a name. Gives the idea away, don't you think? Sorry, I digressed, I actually wanted to talk to you about exquisite flowers, like clover, lavender, mallow, not rubbish. I got distracted, my mind is always flying. I'm a little tipsy, I think I overdid it with the borage nectar... Yes, I really mean borago officinalis, but from now on I'll put the scientific name in brackets, I don't want to sound like a nerd, also because I got a 5 + in the last Latin version.

I must have taken it literally

Borage is one of my favourite plants, with those pretty little blue flowers! Its honey is delicious and also has sedative properties. In fact, my mother, the queen bee, told me one day when I had raised my antennae a little too high and answered her wrongly: 'Rinse your mouth with borage before you address me again in that tone!' I must have taken her literally. Another flower that drives me crazy and from which we make a kick-ass honey is the sunflower: my grandmother used it against cholesterol and they even say that years and years ago humans ate its honey against fever. Maybe it won't bring it down, but it sure is a great restorative. Speaking of honeys that make blood: if you happen to feel like my namesake Angie, I mean Angelina Jolie the morning after a wild party in the days before Brad Pitt, gogò children and humanitarian causes, in short, when she was still transgressive and exchanged an ampoule of blood with her ex as a token of love.

Flowers, flowers, more and more flowers

I can't tell you what a life in June and July, we are all obsessed with chestnut flowers! I like them a lot because they are as bitter as I am, good and dear, but don't ever step on my baskets. What are they? Well, I really must explain them to you! I'm kidding, I'll tell you: they are located on the outside of my shins and I accumulate the pollen I find here and there during my adventures. When I want to perfume myself to please some kelp (nothing fancy eh, then everyone at home...), then I fly to the linden flower (tilia platyphyllos). It is delicious. Not surprisingly, in antiquity it was consecrated to the goddess of love, Aphrodite. Its honey has a calming, purifying effect, and is good for the digestion, in short for everything!

Flowers, flowers, more and more flowers

What if you get a sore throat and a cold?

If, on the other hand, you get a sore throat and cold, do as I do and throw yourself on eucalyptus (Eucalyptusglobulus): I on the flowers, you on the honey. You can also put it in yoghurt, which without a bit of sugary flavour sometimes turns sour like my sisters Ada and Amelia when they tell me that I have to make up my mind to get my head, pardon me, my head, right. One of the things I enjoy most about my life as a bee is the travelling, the adventure, the search for the best flowers. I have already told you that I am a wanderer and very curious. For example, this summer I went on holiday to Sardinia. I had been told it was a beautiful region and I really liked the idea of seeing the blue sea, the rocks, the beaches... I didn't want to fly to Flavio Briatore's Billionaire or to some luxury yacht, though! I'm not really the type, I prefer camping.
