    Who Greta Thunberg is

Greta Thunberg is a Swedish climate change activist and advocate who has made headlines around the world for her efforts to bring attention to the climate crisis. Despite the criticism she has received, including from powerful world politicians, she has never stopped making her voice heard. Recently she was arrested in Germany for participating in an environmental protest. This arrest has sparked renewed interest in her activism and the importance of her message in the fight against climate change.

Arrest in Germany and the reason for the protest

Numerous climate protesters demonstrated at various locations near Luetzerath, including Greta Thunberg. The demonstrators had positioned themselves on the edge of the Garzweiler mine to protest against the intention to continue coal mining until 2023. Germany has in fact chosen to turn back to coal instead of investing in more innovative nuclear power plants. Law enforcement officers settled the environmentalists and Thunberg was taken away by three officers. The protesters were then put on a bus to be removed from the site. According to an Aachen police representative who spoke to ANSA, Thunberg was identified and then released. The same criteria was used for the other protesters. Last Sunday Thunberg was forcibly removed by police officers during a sit-in near Luetzerath, similar to what had happened a few days earlier.

The damage of coal to pollinators

The consequences of coal mining on pollinators are obvious, and in Germany they could have an increasingly negative impact. One of the determining factors is the destruction of the surrounding habitat. Vast areas are cleared, leaving only barren and polluted soil. In addition, the dust, gases and other substances released affect the health of pollinators and affect their food sources. If the number of pollinators in an area decreases, there is a reduction in the amount of pollination, resulting in decreased yields. This can have a significant economic impact on farmers, who are unable to produce enough food to meet the needs of the population.

    The rise of environmental activism

The arrest of Greta Thunberg has highlighted the growth of environmental activism worldwide. Recent years have seen a increase in the number of environmental activist groups, campaigns and demonstrations calling for action. This increase in environmental activism has had a significant impact on the climate change debate, as it has highlighted the urgency of the crisis and pushed governments and corporations to act. Through protests, campaigns and demonstrations, environmental activists have been able to reach a wide audience and educate people about the impacts of climate change. This, however, is still not enough.

    3Bee's mission and contribution

At 3Bee, we work to raise awareness among companies and citizens about the importance of protecting and regenerating biodiversity. Through our projects, we contribute to reducing the impact of climate change on the environment by encouraging individuals and organisations to adopt sustainable practices. This includes conserving and restoring green spaces, protecting pollinators and biodiversity through our monitoring systems. Hive-Tech: A beehive 4.0 consisting of a network of IoT sensors, which, placed inside the hive, monitor the wellbeing of bees, enabling treatments to be reduced and visits to the apiary to be decreased. Biospectrum: An automated fauna counting system that uses artificial intelligence to recognise animal types. Terra: a neural network system for analysing plant biodiversity across 3 European states, in collaboration with ESA.
