    Our partner: 3Bee

3Bee stands out for its commitment to safeguarding biodiversity. It uses bees as key bio-indicators, collecting and interpreting data using innovative proprietary systems to monitor the health of bees and pollinators, as well as their links with ecosystems. These technology systems include the Hive-Tech, a hive scale 4.0 that monitors the well-being of bees using IoT sensors; Spectrum, an AI-driven sensor for counting pollinators; and Flora, a neural network system that analyses plant biodiversity, developed in collaboration with the'ESA (the European Space Agency).

The need to protect and regenerate biodiversity

Everyone now knows that bees play a fundamental role in our ecosystem: essential for pollination, they are responsible for one third of the world's food production and 70% of plant species. However, in recent years, bees and all other pollinators are under threat, due to climate change, the use of pesticides, habitat loss and the presence of pests, diseases and bacteria. It is therefore vital to regenerate biodiversity.

The solution: from a hum to a symphony of data

To address this threat, Foxy has adopted 3Bee technology to continuously monitor the state of the hives: Using IoT sensors and neural networks, we are able to monitor the temperature of the hive, thesounds products and the humidity level, valuable information for preventing diseases and hive problems. This data is immediatelymade available to beekeepers via an app, enabling them to prevent typical hive problems and diseases.

    Implementation: a technological Eden

As part of the project, Foxy is supporting the activities of 20 beekeepers, one in each region of Italy, by supplying them with Hive-tech that reduces bee mortality and improves working conditions. But it's not just about connected hives. Foxy and 3Bee have created 20 Biodiversity Oases, veritable technological havens of biodiversity, by planting 2,000 native trees with high nectar potential to restore natural reservoirs of nectar, essential food for pollinators. This is the beating heart of our project: a veritable web of life, where technology meets nature. In a bold attempt to involve its customers in its sustainable mission, Foxy has launched a bees-themed capsule collection of paper towels. The products in the "Love the bee" collection not only celebrate bees' vital contribution to biodiversity, but also offer an educational insight into their world.

Each sheet of paper towel is a journey: it informs about theirreplaceable role of bees, entertains with anecdotes and illustrations, and highlights the social and environmental impact of the Foxy & 3Bee project. Users are also invited to share their favourite moments with the capsule collection on social networks, spreading the message and engaging a wider community. But the journey doesn't stop there. With the purchase of an item from the capsule collection, Foxy is offering sponsorship of a "Discover the Bees" package, which includes the sponsorship of 500 bees, a certificate of sponsorship and the ability to follow the bees via the app. Each gift exchanged is mapped, visually expanding the Foxy oasis and the environmental impact of the project. This oasis becomes not only a gathering place, but also a powerful communication tool, underlining Foxy and 3Bee's commitment to a sustainable future.

    Results

The project has monitored and protected 11,400,000 bees, pollinated 11 billion flowers, protected 1900 nectar trees, store101 million tonnes of CO2 and produce 1.4 million tonnes of nectar available to pollinators, as well as supporting 29 beekeepers and 17 growers. This three-year initiative has also been extended to Foxy's offices in Spain and Poland. This initiative has therefore played a major role in regenerating biodiversity and raising awareness among the general public.

    Conclusion

The Foxy-3Bee case shows how businesses can make a difference in protecting biodiversity by usinginnovative technologies and implementingsustainable practices. 3Bee's contribution with its technological solutions, combined with Foxy's action, is a model for other companies wishing to join the fight to protect biodiversity. With more than 500 companies involved in 10 countries, 3Bee has set up 200 active biodiversity oases. These oases are an innovative and revolutionary initiative, the first service of its kind in the industry, which connects nature with technology and protects biodiversity through a sustainable and efficient model. 3Bee's goal is to become the leadingNature Technology company with technology solutions that protect pollinators, plants and life on Earth.
