Pain is always subjective, an entirely personal experience, experienced and known only by those affected. Yet there are different types of pain measurement scales. The Schmidt scale, which measures the intensity of pain perceived following the stinging of different species of hymenopterous insects, is one example. true or false? True. Yes, entomologist Justin Schmidt has created a 4-level pain scale (with apis mellifera having a score of 2). This scale, however, has limitations: it does not take into account that the intensity of pain varies depending on which part of the body is being stung.
