Be IT creates the first innovative 'Made in Italy' apiary

Thanks to the adoption of one technological hive per region of Italy with the Be IT campaign, we have generated an impact of protecting 6 million bees and enabled the pollination of 6 billion flowers. After having identified the most iconic regional realities for a total of 20 Italian beekeepers, engaged every day in the care of their resident and nomadic honey bees, we activated 20 hives equipped with 3Bee technology. The hive-tech monitoring enables the constant mapping of hives by collecting data on colony trends, their reduction in number, survival status and growth. Not only that, the technology captures research data useful for prevention and control of nectar sources and biodiversity.

The Be IT campaign aims to disseminate and raise awareness of the importance of pollinators by addressing an ever-widening community of biodiversity supporters. Anyone can take an active part and participate in the project by adopting Italian bees, so as to follow their growth and development throughout the year. Bees are crucial for the protection of the earth's biodiversity, as they are responsible for the pollination of over 80% of plants. The frightening decline of bees is caused by the effects of climate change such as drought, the reckless use of pesticides in agriculture, and the aggressiveness of endemic pests. The Italian territory is characterised by a unique geographic conformation, and habitats are complex and delicate. Protecting bees and thus guaranteeing pollination therefore means preserving our landscape and the products of the land.

Be IT promotes Italian excellence in the world, not least that of our biodiversity. In Italy we can boast the greatest record of rare and precious honeys. In our production of unifloral honey, i.e. where there is a clear and distinct predominance of one bloom over the others, there are more than 50 different types of honey: from the classic millefiori to cliegio honey! From North to South, each jar of honey tells of the taste and excellence of the entire Italian production chain.
